Vast New Bridge Linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour Confirmed

Project Details Revealed

A substantial new bridge project connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour was revealed today, Sunday February 4th.

The two-lane Dubai bridge spanning 1500 meters aims to dramatically reduce travel time to Dubai Harbour, located between Palm Jumeirah and Bluewaters.

Reduced Travel Time

The new entry and exit points are expected to cut journey duration from Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour from 12 minutes down to just 3 minutes.

Strategic Partnership

The strategic partnership between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and investment firm Shamal Holding will develop the bridge.

It implements the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance road networks for Dubai’s growth.

Bridge Specifications

RTA Director-General Mattar Al Tayer said a 1500 meter bridge with two lanes in each direction will be built, accommodating 6000 vehicles per hour.

It starts from the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road near the American University in Dubai, passes Al Naseem Street and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street intersections before reaching Dubai Harbour Street.

Intersection Improvements

Surface improvements at four intersections along the route are also included: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Falak Street and Al Naseem Street, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and Al Naseem Street, and Dubai Harbour Street.

Al Tayer confirmed the project will boost traffic flow and reduce travel time to just 3 minutes.
