Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded a contract worth AED810 million (approximately $221 million) to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD for marine works on Palm Jebel Ali.
As part of the project, which is a component of Dubai’s growing real estate market, the Belgian company will be handling sand placement, beach profiling, reclamation, and dredging.
Nakheel signs major Palm Jebel Ali contract with Jan De Nul Dredging
The contract intends to facilitate the building of villas on Palm Jebel Ali’s entire frond. Jan De Nul Dredging, a member of the Jan De Nul Group, is expected to complete the marine works in just over two years, with mobilization activities underway.
Nakheel said in a statement on Monday that the first eight fronds of the project will be ready for villa infrastructure and civil works by the first quarter of 2025.
The construction of a new public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road and upgrades to the streets and lighting from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali are among the infrastructure contracts that have just been awarded, and this development comes after those contracts were awarded.
The project will provide both locals and tourists with various services, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai, who introduced it.
It initiates a new economic corridor in the Jebel Ali region, consistent with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

With eight different types of houses, Palm Jebel Ali debuted more than 700 units of its Phase 1 frond villas last year.
The island will span 13.4 kilometers, with 16 fronds and 91 kilometers of beachfront, aligning with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan‘s goal of expanding public beach access.
The project is anticipated to be completed by late 2026 and develop into a popular residential and recreational area.
